About Isoproturon 50% / 75% WP
Isoproturon (50% / 75% WP) is a selective, urea-based herbicide commonly used in wheat and barley to control annual grasses, such as Phalaris minor, and broad-leaved weeds. Applied post-emergence, it works by inhibiting photosynthesis in weeds. It is typically applied at a dosage of approximately 1.33 kg/ha
- Formulation: Water-dispersible Powder (WP) at 50% or 75% concentration.
- Target Crops: Primarily wheat, barley, and rye.
- Target Weeds: Phalaris minor (littleseed canary grass), Avena fatua (wild oat), and Poa annua (annual meadowgrass).
- Mode of Action: Absorbed by roots and leaves, it inhibits electron transport in photosynthesis, causing weeds to starve.
- Application Timing: Pre-emergence or early post-emergence.
- Dosage & Dilution: For 75% WP, standard recommendation is about 1.33 kg formulated product per hectare (or gm per acre) diluted in 300750 liters of water, depending on local recommendations.
- Toxicity: Considered slightly hazardous to mammals, low toxicity to bees and birds, but can be harmful to fish.
- Compatibility: Generally compatible with other herbicides like 2,4-D and Pendimethalin.
